Saturday Night Fever it’s not–call it more like Sunday Morning Leftovers. This portrait of the legendary Manhattan disco and its colorful cofounder, Steve Rubell, plays like the outtakes of a much more interesting film–where’s the sex, the drugs, the classic disco music? (It shouldn’t surprise viewers that Miramax and writer-director Mark Christopher had a falling-out over the final cut of the …

This amiably amorphous comedy-drama about a myriad of articulate and witty people pondering the meaning of love was originally titled Dancing About Architecture. As one of the lovelorn puts it, in trying to explain the elusive nature of desire, “Talking about love is like dancing about architecture.” However, with the way the characters in Willard Carroll’s film talk, it sounds like they could da…

It’s a pity this oceangoing adventure wasn’t fully appreciated during its theatrical release in 1996, if only because its climactic storm sequence (hence the movie’s title) was awesome on the big screen and inevitably less impressive on video. Mixed reviews also curtailed its box-office potential, but as you might expect from Ridley Scott–the director of Blade Runner and Thelma & Louise–this is …

As A Band They've Been Globetrotting And Are Speaking To Me From Sweden On The Way To Paris, Where They Will Doubtless Be Playing For A Gang Of Western European Fans Who Know The Words To All Of Their Songs.

If you listen to state radio stations, chances are you have heard the tune "Tonight, Tonight" by Hot Chelle Rae.

"Just never stop, let's keep the beat pumpin' / Keep the beat up, let's drop the beat down / It's my party, dance if I want to / We can get mad, let it all out" the lyrics go. A jovial song for a band that has been forced to work diligently for the last six years.

"I'd say that our parents instilled a lot of determination into us from a young age," Ryan Follese, lead frontman of the band, claims responding to how they've managed to keep going for six years.

"Our family has a really strong work ethic," he adds, "My folks are both musicians. So we know the deal. We are people who set goals and that helps."

His pa is singer and songwriter Keith Follese, who is famous for his work with country music legends like Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and Martina McBride.

Their doggedness has paid off. Designated for an American Music Award (which they have afterwards won), Hot Chelle Rae has finally arrived. "I can't truthfully tell you what being nominated feels like," Follese says. "We're still processing it.

"To be in a category with such great artists really makes us feel just like we are part of the industry," he adds.

As a band they have been globetrotting and are speaking to me from Sweden en route to Paris, where they will doubtless be playing for a group of Western european fans who know the words to all their songs.

"I can't truthfully say that I ever thought that I would be sitting in Sweden talking with a reporter in South Africa," he asserts replying to whether or not they thought they'd ever have fans in South Africa.

"It's actually flattering and humbling. We have a wonderful team and that's why this works out so well. And our label works as hard as we do."

Their goals include selling 1,000,000 albums and turning into a fully-fledged arena band.

The last year has been vital on the band's time line and evolution.

"Everyone's gotten better," Follese says. "In the year all of the emotions feel intensified. We are away from home a good deal. The parties became better. Everything is just more intensified."

Funny what a little success will do. So what is the maddest party they've been to? "I must say the "I Like it Like That" promo vid is one of the more crazy parties we created," Follese says.

The promo video was shot the day they were given their hands on the 1st copy of their impending album, Whatever.

"We started drinking and partying," Follese says. "And our manager brought out a camera and it's fundamentally us killing 2 bottles of Gray Goose. It is a massive defining moment for us."

Keeping the momentum going is always one of the trickiest things for a new band. "We just released the new single 'I Like it Like That'. We have got the impending album. And fundamentally everything on it is simply a journey in our lives and the ride we have been on."

"Absolutely," he responds to a question about whether they'd tour S. A. "One of my friends was born in S. A. . Apparently, the women are really beautiful."

Watch out ladies!

With a gruelling tour schedule and heaps of travelling, "we spend lots of our sparetime with family," he asserts, "And watching movies and hockey. We chill."

This year has been particularly travel-heavy with the band spending as little as 2 or 3 days out of each three months at home. The travelling does not seem to affect his long-term relationship though.

"She's not on tour with me. We have been together so long though, that she knows what's up. We both know this is larger than us now."

The band cites some of music's greats as their influences. Queen and The Beatles are among them and are right up there with their mom and pop. "They're our number one supporters," Follese isn't shy to confess.

The Follese brothers are not the sole members with ties in the entertainment industry. Lead guitar strummer Nash Overstreet is from a performing family and his brother Chord is one of the new leads on the Happiness block. "Chord's parallel career path has been so cool to see," Follese says, "Being on Happiness for us would show that we've actually made it. It would be the dictionary definition of full circle", writes tagza.com.
